Here's something British visitors work out about ten minutes into their first Saturday in Oslo: every pub with a screen is showing the 3pm kick-offs. The ones you can't watch live on TV at home. In Norway they go out live at 16:00 local time, the way they have for more than half a century.

Norway doesn't just watch English football. It was raised on it. On 29 November 1969 the state broadcaster NRK showed its first live English league match, Wolverhampton 1–0 Sunderland, and Tippekampen, the Saturday afternoon English match, stayed on air until 1995. A generation of Norwegians picked an English club before they picked a Norwegian one. Today Liverpool's official supporters club in Norway has more than 55,000 registered members.

So finding football in Oslo is easy. The useful part of this guide is finding it without paying 123 kr a pint for the privilege. PilsPosten tracks beer prices at more than 300 Oslo venues, and the football pubs in this guide charge between 69 kr and 123 kr for half a litre, against a city average of about 119 kr.

Kick-Off Times: The One-Hour Rule

Oslo is always one hour ahead of the UK, summer and winter. So:

  • Saturday 15:00 UK is 16:00 in Oslo
  • Saturday 12:30 UK is 13:30
  • Champions League games are usually at 21:00 Oslo time, with some at 18:45

Who shows what: Viaplay holds the Premier League rights in Norway through the 2027/28 season. TV 2 has the Champions League and Norway's top division, Eliteserien. Sports bars carry both, so don't choose a pub by broadcaster. Choose it by crowd.

The Supporter Pubs

If your team has a following in Oslo, this is where it gathers.

Bohemen Sportspub (Arbeidergata 2, city centre) — 105 kr
The football pub in central Oslo. It's the city-centre home of Vålerenga, Oslo's biggest club, and their supporters' group Klanen is a part-owner. VisitOslo counts 13 screens and a big screen, and it can show up to five matches at once, which on a busy Saturday is exactly what you need. Five minutes' walk from Karl Johans gate.

Andy's Pub (Stortingsgata 8) — price not yet in our data
If you're Liverpool, this is your pub: Liverpool-themed, memorabilia on the walls, and listed as a supporters' venue for the club in Oslo. Central, a couple of minutes from the National Theatre.

Trafalgar Sportsbar (Keysers gate 1) — 113 kr
A British-style sports bar near the Parliament with screens for the Premier League and the other big European leagues. It is also, slightly unexpectedly, the Oslo home of Viking supporters: the Stavanger club that won the Norwegian league in 2025.

Store Stå Pub (Thereses gate 51, Bislett) — 112 kr
Named after the standing terraces, and right opposite Bislett Stadium. Several TVs and a projector screen, pizza, and a crowd that comes for the game.

The Big One: Carls

Carls (Trondheimsveien 113) — 123 kr
Billed as Norway's biggest football pub: several large rooms, matches on everywhere and room for up to 1,000 people. If you want a full-stand atmosphere for a Champions League night, this is it. Tables can only be booked in the Arena section; the rest is walk-in. Age limits are 18+ from Sunday to Thursday and 20+ on Fridays and Saturdays.

The catch is the price, and the fact that about ten minutes' walk away there is this:

Wembley Fotballpub (Carl Berner) — 69 kr
A proper neighbourhood football pub with screens, regulars and one of the cheapest pints in the city. If there's a big game on, it fills up fast. (Price last confirmed October 2025.)

Four pints at Carls: 492 kr. Four pints at Wembley: 276 kr. Same match.

More Good Places to Watch

Perrongen Sportspub (Sørkedalsveien 1, Majorstuen) — 97 kr
Right by Majorstuen station, where every metro line stops. A practical choice on the west side of the city, where prices otherwise run high.

O'Reillys (Grünerløkka) — 98 kr
An Irish pub on Grünerløkka with screens in every direction. (Price last confirmed November 2025.)

The Scotsman (Karl Johans gate) — 123 kr
The obvious choice on the main street, and priced like it. Fine if you're already there; not worth the walk otherwise.

Norwegian Football, If You Fancy It

Eliteserien runs from March to December, and the 2026 season finishes on 13 December. Oslo has two clubs in the top flight this year, Vålerenga and KFUM Oslo. Vålerenga play at Intility Arena; on match days the build-up and the post-mortem both happen at Bohemen. If you're in Oslo for a weekend in November, a Vålerenga home game is a cheaper and louder afternoon than you'd expect.

Practical Tips

Arrive early for the big ones. Liverpool and Manchester United each have tens of thousands of members in Norway, and fixtures between the big English clubs fill the supporter pubs well before kick-off.

Buy your beer before the second half. Supermarkets stop selling beer at 20:00 on weekdays and 18:00 on Saturdays, and don't sell it at all on Sundays. A Saturday 16:00 kick-off ends just before the shops stop selling.

Bring ID. You need to be 18 to buy beer, and some venues set the limit at 20 on weekends.

Paying. Card and Vipps work everywhere. Tipping isn't expected.

The Bottom Line

Oslo might be the easiest city in Europe to watch English football in: every match is on, the kick-offs are an hour later than at home, and the pubs are full of people who have supported your rivals since 1969. The only thing to plan is the price. Bohemen for the atmosphere, Carls for the scale, Wembley for the wallet.
