Data controller
The data controller for personal data collected through Pilsposten is Adrian, who runs the site as a private individual. There is no company behind the service. Questions about privacy, access, correction or deletion go to machocez@gmail.com. That inbox is read by one person. Processing is carried out under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and you may complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet) at any time if you believe your data is not handled lawfully.
Information We Collect
We only collect the data needed to deliver and secure the service:
- Contact details and submissions you provide when you send prices or inquiries.
- Technical logs (anonymized IP addresses, browser type, device identifiers) for security and troubleshooting.
- Cookie and advertising preferences so we honor the choices you make.
- Your location, only if you tap “Start where I am” on the pub round map. It is used in your browser to work out the round, and is not sent to us or stored.
Advertising and Google AdSense
When ads appear on PilsPosten, they are served by Google AdSense. That means:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits here and elsewhere on the internet. How Google uses information from sites that use its services: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
- Google and its partners may receive your IP address and browser and device information, and may use cookies, web beacons or similar identifiers.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google's consent message (reopened from "Cookie settings") or at adssettings.google.com, and opt out of other vendors’ advertising cookies at www.youronlinechoices.eu.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to see which pages are used and where the site breaks. It runs in Google's Consent Mode: until you consent, no analytics cookies are stored and Google receives only cookieless, anonymous signals. If you consent, Google stores a cookie that tells visits apart. We also use Vercel Web Analytics, which sets no cookies.
Prices and comments you submit
PilsPosten is built on prices and comments from its users. What you submit is published on the site, together with any name you give. Comments and price suggestions are reviewed before they are published, and we may edit or remove content that is wrong, offensive or advertising. To have something you submitted removed, write to the address below.
How We Use Your Data
We process data for legitimate purposes only:
- Operating, maintaining, and improving the service and its content.
- Producing aggregated analytics to improve accuracy and availability.
- Responding to requests, meeting legal obligations, and enforcing policies.
Cookies and Local Storage
We use essential cookies for core functionality and security. Consent for analytics and advertising cookies is collected with Google's consent message, a certified consent platform (IAB TCF). Optional cookies are set only after consent. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time under "Cookie settings".
Data Retention
Usage and security logs are retained for up to 26 months before automatic deletion. Submitted content and support requests are stored as long as needed to fulfill their purpose or meet legal requirements.
Security
Data is hosted on secure platforms with access controls, encrypted transport (HTTPS) and monitoring to detect abuse. Only the person who runs the site has access to personal data.
Your Choices and Rights
You have the right to:
- Request access, correction, or deletion of personal data we hold about you.
- Withdraw consent for optional cookies and advertising at any time.
- Object to or ask us to restrict processing when the law allows.
- Lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority if you believe we handle data unlawfully.
Data Sharing
We never sell personal data. These providers process data on our behalf: Vercel (hosting), Google Firebase (the price database), Upstash (caching), Sanity (articles), CARTO (the map tiles; your browser fetches them directly, so CARTO sees your IP address) and Google (Analytics, and AdSense when ads are shown). Beyond that, we disclose information only when the law requires it.
