📝 Om stedet

Vineria Ventidue sits at Gimleveien 22 in Frogner, in one of Oslo's quieter and more exclusive streets — the Gimle neighbourhood, known for its embassies, grand villas, and some of the highest property values in Norway. The restaurant opened in May 2017 and has an origin story that is genuinely unusual: a father and son purchased a farm in Maremma in the Lazio region of Italy, where they began producing their own olive oil and rosé wine. Looking for a home in Oslo for their products, they opened Vineria Ventidue — despite having no prior experience in restaurant management. The ambition was clear from the outset: to create an authentically Italian restaurant in Oslo, with an atmosphere drawing on the warmth of good neighbourhood restaurants in Rome, Florence, and Venice. The kitchen works from scratch. Fresh pasta is made on-site daily, with Massimo and Andrea at the pass. The menu covers Italian classics including spaghetti carbonara, lasagne, and pizza, with dishes varying by season and ingredient availability. One recurring fixture is Truffle Tuesday — a weekly evening dedicated to truffle-based dishes — which gives a reasonable indication of the kitchen's ambitions. The wine list is central to the concept, covering wines from across Italy's regions. Rosé and olive oil from the family's Maremma estate feature on the menu, lending the place a degree of authenticity that is hard to manufacture. Prosecco, Italian beer, liqueurs, and coffee round out the drinks offering. The restaurant has outdoor seating and is open from lunch through to midnight seven days a week, including through July — a deliberate decision that regular guests have welcomed, as many Oslo restaurants close for the summer holiday period. Vineria Ventidue has received the recognition of being listed among the top Italian restaurants outside Italy, and appears on Star Wine List. Google and Restaurant Guru both rate it at 4.1 from over a thousand combined reviews. The atmosphere is consistently described as cosy and warm, with friendly staff. The nearby area includes Frogner Church, Galleri Gimle, and easy access to Bygdøy allé.
